Erica Cogswell

My name’s Erica, and I am currently an intern through Wayne State University’s School of Social Work.
I am interested in working with individuals who need assistance identifying life stressors, ease the anxieties they cause, and create a solid foundation for their future goals and ambitions. My approach to therapy involves a strengths-based, person-centered, trauma-focused perspective. I believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach, and grab from several different therapeutic styles to find the one that works best for you and/or your child. I am passionate about helping clients identify outside resources and opportunities to advocate for my clients and empower them, in addition to working on grounding techniques in session during life’s most chaotic moments. I take a holistic, “big picture” approach to helping my clients succeed and feel relief from their symptoms, no matter their past. I am an LGBTQIA+ ally, social justice advocate, and ready to help process your unique, individual story.

Outside of sessions, I have 2 dogs (Rex and Luca), a bird (Gumdrop), and LOTS of house plants to keep me busy. I also enjoy reading all things mystery, literary fiction, and am beginning to read fantasy. I am a former choir kid who loves singing (even though it’s mostly in my car now), learning about/watching sports (Go Lions!!), and trying to keep up with my crazy dogs at the dog park.

I look forward to being a part of you and/or your child’s healing journey, and look forward to making some progress together!
